Just for a comparison.. If you have something along the lines of BANS or PHPBay try putting in “running shoes” and see what comes out. That’s what main idea I was throwing out.

OK, that what I figured, Though, scoping it out a bit, I’m not sure if ranking for “running shoes” is really all that ambitious compared to my first thought.

Really good points! I tend to give these niches so you can look at more longtail terms to focus on.

In other words, search for running shoes and find Nike. Search for Nike running shoes and find… blue nike running shoe, etc. Kind of get the idea?

So, I tend to keep things pretty white hat, so excuse me if this sounds ignorant. A lot of those niches look super competitive. Can you really compete on a top level keyword like “running shoes,” or are you targeting longtails?
